It all started with a haircut that Richard was in desperate need of. While Supercuts worked their $13 magic on Richard's hair, Kim stopped in the Craft Warehouse to buy a huge tub of Gesso (the economy size was much more bang for your buck, but who can put a price on a Gesso bang really). To her surprise, she was invited back (by a special corporate mass-produced invitation) to their "Christmas Season Kick-off" that very night. At first we didn't care, then we read that this was an "invite only event" and we are not invited to many A-list velvet rope events (not to mention there were promises of prizes and hot chocolate).
So to get in the right mood, we headed over to the annual "Holiday Art Walk" to see what the Wenatchee art world had to offer. After a 10 blocks meander towards the first destination,we discovered that the word "walk" was a bit misleading*, but we decided to stick it to them and walk the whole way. About 2 1/2 hours later (and only 6 measly art stops, including a furniture shop who was trying pass off their rocking chairs as "art") we finished the tour. It was really fun talking with all the local artists, and see what had been done. So support your local art walks/jogs!
After a brief rest, and a lot of creative inspiration, we were ready to hit the Craft Warehouse Extravaganza! It was by far the craftiest open house we've ever attended, and oh what exciting giveaways!! Every 15 minutes they would announce "Attention Craft warehouse shoppers, please stand on a number!!!", then we had to race old ladies in puff paint sweatshirts to find a number taped to the floor!!!! It was sort of a conglomeration of cake walks, blue light specials, Barry Manelow fans and Wal-mart day after thanksgiving sales. Kim was very excited when Richard found a killer deal on an easel, and now she feels like a legitimate artist. We gloriously walked out with a bunch of other stuff that will probably end up in a bad Christmas present this year - crafts ahoy!
* after a lack of tinsel and holly, we also discovered the word "Holiday" was referring to Veterans day, not x-mas, which was another reason the whole thing was a bit confusing.

Dude...I miss that Extravaganza! I used to get 20 yards of Warm 'n Natural in one long cut for my "%50 Off One Regular Price Item" coupon. That would last me the whole year. And who doesn't get a little jolly standing on numbers?
